Our Story

Sacramento Koi was founded in February 2000 by Steve Walker and his son Jeff, driven by a shared passion for koi and a desire to solve the challenges of building the perfect koi pond. Early on, they recognized that bead filtration would shape the future of pond technology. That insight led to the creation of the Advantage Bead Filter—designed, tested, and refined in‑house until it consistently delivered exceptional results.

As their work progressed, one truth became clear: even the best filter cannot compensate for a poorly designed pond. This realization sparked their next mission—developing a koi pond design that worked flawlessly in the real world, not just on paper.

To put their ideas to the test, Steve and Jeff launched a pond‑building division. Building ponds firsthand proved invaluable. It allowed them to see what truly worked and at the same time identify what didn’t work. This allowed them to continuously improve their pond designs and equipment. Whenever the market lacked a product that met their standards, they simply created one. This commitment to innovation became the foundation of the Advantage line of products.

Today, Sacramento Koi continues to blend hands‑on experience, thoughtful engineering, and a deep love for koi to help customers build ponds that are both beautiful and easy to maintain.
